Back in Stock Notification

Note: This feature is only available to subscribers of the PRO plan and above.

What is Back in Stock Notification?

Avoid loss in sales from “Sold out products” with Back in Stock Notifications. If a customer comes across a product they would like to purchase but is out of stock, you can allow them to sign up to be notified when that product becomes available again.

The back in stock email will ensure customers can order directly from your store when products become available again.

With this feature, you can:

  1. Send Automatic Back in Stock Notifications via Email
  2. Grow Email Lists as non-subscribers will need to sign up before they can be notified
  3. See customers on the waiting list for Back in Stock products using the “Back in Stock” category in the Admin Customers section.

How does it work?

  1. To use this feature, you can enable it for any product by navigating to the product page and enabling the option “Activate Back in Stock Notifications”.

  2. Once enabled, the product page on your store fornt will display a button to “Notify me when available” whenever the said product becomes out of stock. The text on this button can be customized on your theme by going to the visual editor.

    Note: If you don’t see this button, it’s because your Theme has not been updated, make sure to update your theme from the Themes Gallery.

  3. If a customer was to click on this button, they would see 1 of 2 possible screens.
    • if the customer is “Logged In”, they see:

    • If a customer is not Logged In they will see the following screen:

  4. In both cases, if the email is not verified within the store, a verification email is sent to prevent spam and ensure the email exists and belongs to the subscriber. Only after this step will the customer be eligible to receive the notification.

  5. Once there is an update to the stock, either by the merchant manually changing it on the product/variant page or due to an order cancellation causing the product to be back in stock, an email is sent to all subscribed customers.

  6. The settings for this email can be modified in Settings > Emails.

Features under development (not currently available)

The following features are not yet implemented but are under consideration for a future implementation:

  • Show on the customer profile which products they requested to be notified about.

  • Filter by products with notification requests — so store owners can identify the most requested products and consider restocking them.

  • On the product detail page, display a list of customers who asked to be notified when the product is back in stock.

  • Option for the merchant to view or export the list of customers who requested to be notified.
